Perplexity is an AI search product that searches sources, synthesizes an answer and links the evidence used.

1 · What it is

Perplexity changes the shape of search from a page of ranked links into a sourced response. The user asks a question, then receives a written synthesis with links beside the claims.

Pro Search may run several searches, read different source types and present one synthesis with direct links. A selected focus narrows the material toward the web, academic sources, finance or files.

The citations are the important handoff. Links show where a claim came from. Perplexity itself tells you to check those linked sources before trusting the answer.
