Cloudflare OS

Quick explainer2 min readIntermediate

Cloudflare OS is an open-source AI workspace from Cloudflare where people ask agents to do work and build small personal apps that run in sandboxes.

In plain words

Cloudflare built it for itself, and much of its staff uses it every day. It has an agent chat that knows how the company works, sandboxed building of small personal apps called gadgets, and a security layer called Gatekeepers that puts guardrails on agents and apps. Each gadget runs in its own sandbox, so a user can ask an agent to add a missing feature to their copy. Cloudflare released the code so other companies can adapt it, and has opened a waitlist for a managed version.

A quick example

Imagine asking for slides for tomorrow's customer meeting. The agent builds the deck as your own gadget, and when you want a missing feature, you ask the agent to add it to your copy.

Where you'll meet it

  • Company-wide AI workspaces that need security controls.
  • Letting staff who do not code build small internal apps with agents.
