Orca

Quick explainer2 min readIntermediate

Orca is an open-source desktop app for running several AI coding agents at once, such as Claude Code and Codex, each on its own copy of your project.

In plain words

Orca calls itself an agent development environment. Every task gets its own git worktree: a separate folder with its own branch and files, so agents working in parallel don't overwrite each other. You can send one prompt to five agents, compare what they made and merge the best result. It works with many command-line agents, such as Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode, and a phone app lets you check on them and send follow-ups.

A quick example

Imagine you ask three coding agents to fix the same bug. Each one works in its own folder of the project, so their edits never clash. You read the three versions side by side, keep the cleanest fix and throw the others away.

Where you'll meet it

  • Comparing how different coding agents solve the same task.
  • Keeping several agent tasks running at once without their changes mixing.
